Hamish McLachlan

Hamish McLachlan grew up on a sheep farm in South Australia, but always wanted to be involved in sports marketing, management and broadcasting.

Hamish cut his broadcasting teeth in horse sports and polo – a sport where his role as an international player and administrator led to opportunities to call games locally, and then in time, at tournaments such as the Cartier International in England and International Tests throughout Europe and Asia.

Knowing the hard work needed to be done abroad to get an opportunity at home, Hamish spent 3 summers in Europe hosting sporting events and calling matches and honing his skills behind the microphone.

Once back in Australia in 2008, Hamish got his break with Channel 7. Hamish first appeared on television as the host of Channel Seven's Sunday morning football show "AFL Game Day". As host, Hamish became the front man responsible for the show's balance of informed opinion and light hearted banter between the game's past and present greats.

Following the success of AFL Game Day, Hamish was asked to become involved in the hosting of the Spring Racing broadcast and calling tennis matches for the World Feed Broadcast of the Australian Open tennis with Channel 7.

Following a successful year hosting the football show for Channel 7, radio station Triple M approached Hamish to host their Spring Racing coverage in 2008. Hamish was then offered a role calling Saturday night and Sunday afternoon AFL matches for the station in 2009.

McLachlan now spends his time hosting and calling for Channel 7 and Triple M across tennis, racing and football, and will often be engaged as a Master of Ceremonies for corporate clients.
